About UsReluceo, Inc. is a leading green chemistry company dedicated to the discovery and development of sustainable technology platforms for manufacturing of functional polymers, bioplastics and other chemical products from non-food biomass and underutilized agricultural and forestry resources. Our team is building a world class organization with rule-changing technology and outstanding global market potential. Khosla Ventures a venture capital firm run by people who listen to, analyze, and advise entrepreneurs. The firm manages a main fund that supports early- and late-stage investments and a seed fund for developing very early-stage experiments. Khosla Ventures focuses on next-generation energy projects, new materials, mobility, the Internet and silicon technology. The firm was established in 2004 by Vinod Khosla, who helped turn a computer science project into Sun Microsystems, a multibillion-dollar phenomenon. Management Team/Board of Directors Olga Selifonova, Chief Executive Officer, Founder. Prior to founding Reluceo, Olga co-founded Segetis, Inc. and served as Segetis' vice president of corporate development. With more than 25 years of diverse biotechnology experience Olga has held research positions at the M. M. Shemyakin and Yu. A. Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, USSR Academy of Sciences, at Penn State University, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the University of Minnesota. In 1997-2000 she worked at Genencor International in Palo Alto, CA, where she contributed to molecular evolution efforts and to the collaborative 1,3-propanediol project between DuPont and Genencor. The following 6 years Olga worked at Cargill's Biotechnology Development Center (BioTDC) in the area of metabolic engineering. While at Cargill, Olga was a member of the BioTDC North America leadership team. Olga has first-hand experience with the development of bio-based industrial chemicals such as 1,3-propanediol, 3-hydroxypropionic and lactic acids. Olga has 12 peer-reviewed publications, 9 issued patents and a number of pending patent applications worldwide. Olga received her M.S. degree in biochemistry from the Gorky State University, USSR. She completed her Ph.D requirements at the M.M. Shemyakin and Yu. A. Ovchinnikov Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry, USSR Academy of Sciences. Olga received an M.B.A. from Cardinal Stritch University. Sergey Selifonov, President and Chief Technology Officer, Founder. Sergey is a serial entrepreneur, who prior to Reluceo founded Aromagen Corporation (2002) and Segetis, Inc. (2006). Aromagen, a chemical biotechnology company, was capitalizing on synergies between biocatalysis and chemistry for discovery and production of value added chemical products (flavors, fragrances, industrial materials). As Aromagen's President and Chief Scientific Officer, Sergey led development of select products in industrial partnerships with Archer Daniels Midland Company in industrial chemicals, and with a "Big Five" F&F company in bioprocess development. Sergey's work at Aromagen has included the key steps of discovery and enablement of levulinic ketal ("L-ketal") monomer and polymer technology, thereby providing the basis for subsequent formation of Segetis. Sergey is the inventor of the concept and the core technology of Segetis. In January of 2007, Sergey and Olga have secured a $15MM Series A financing from Khosla Ventures for Segetis. Sergey had served as the first Segetis' President (2006-2008) and Chief Scientific Officer (2006-2009). Sergey has over 25 years of experience in biotechnology and chemistry. He has held research positions with the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms (USSR Academy of Sciences), Penn State, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the University of Minnesota. His research primarily focused on biocatalysis and chemistry of microbial metabolism for organic compounds of environmental or synthetic significance. Sergey was a Principal Investigator and co-PI in several competitively funded research programs. From 1997 to 2001 he worked for Maxygen, a Silicon Valley company pioneering molecular breeding technologies, where he made significant contributions to intellectual property and R&D programs in directed evolution and biocatalysis/chemicals.Sergey has 25 peer-reviewed publications, 9 issued patents and numerous pending patent applications worldwide. Sergey received his M.S. in biology and chemistry from the Gorky State University, USSR. Sergey received his Ph.D. in biochemistry in 1990 from the Institute of Biochemistry and Physiology of Microorganisms, USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow Region.
